I started riding at Woodland Horse Center located in Silver Spring, Maryland when I was in elementary school. I immediately fell in love with the sport and once I started, I was hooked and eager to learn more so I continued to take lessons. I eventually got more involved at Woodland and it became my home away from home. I started working in the barn doing simple barn chores like mucking stalls and eventually worked my way up to being barn manager on certain days of the week. The experience was definitely so worthwhile because I learned so much from it and my knowledge and understanding for horses blossomed. I began the instructor school program at the barn and started teaching lessons when I turned 16.
I started showing at the introductory level in dressage when I was 13 years old on the horse I own, Ziggy. We competed a countless number of times at schooling shows and a few recognized shows in the Maryland and Northern Virginia area. I'm currently a junior at Longwood University and I was able to bring Ziggy down to school with me before my sophomore year of college. He is now used as one of the lesson horses on the team and I love having him here at school because he's my little, or should I say big, chunk of home. I now show at first level in dressage with Longwood with the Intercollegiate Dressage Association and my goal is to hopefully move up to second level before I graduate.
